Sunday School Registration For 2004-2005

To better serve the needs of our children, we're asking parents of our Sunday School students to complete our 2004-2005 Sunday School Registration Form.  Click here to obtain a copy of the form.  Please fill out the form and return it to your child’s Sunday School teacher or if you prefer, fax it to the Church Office at 210-494-7839.

Adult Sunday Fall Classes

Everyone is invited to check out our new Fall Focus Program Brochure. Looking for a way to stimulate your brain this fall—or for an opportunity to feed your soul? You might want to attend one of these continuing classes:

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY

MidWeek Bible Study will meet Thursday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the church parlor. Tom Noll is the leader, and we will continue studying Genesis. New members are welcome. For additional information call Troy Warwick at 342-8411. The next study will meet October 7.

WOMEN'S WEDNESDAY NIGHT SERIES

Women's Wednesday Night Series starting 2 weeks early........A Beth Moore Study. A women's heart....God's dwelling place. 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night in the Fireside room. If you have any questions please call Monica Ferris at 481-1715.

PROJECT MICAH

Project Micah will meet Thursday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the Fireside room (rather than the 21st as advertised in the September newsletter).

PW Cluster Gathering

Presbyterian Women in the San Antonio Cluster will join together for the annual fall gathering featuring fellowship, singing, worship and a program on Saturday, September 18.  This year’s gathering will be held at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church, 8231Callaghan Road.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the gathering from 9 a.m. to noon.  Lunch will be served following the gathering at a cost of $7.75 person.  Rev. Debbie Parsons will lead the worship entitled “Healing Hearts.”  The Delta Society will present a program about “Animal Therapy.”  Registration deadline is Friday, September 10.  You may register by phone by calling Emma Overfelt, 349-6081, or Saint Andrew, 341-4441.

ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MARKET

THE Presbyterian Girls’ Home

The Presbyterian Girls’ Home is in desperate need of single bed sheets.  If you have any extra single sheets (new or used) or would make a donation, your efforts would be gratefully appreciated.  There will be a basket in the narthex.  Thanks—Betty Hayes.

COMMUNITY BIBLE STUDY

Women’s Day Class: Thursday mornings, 10:30-12:30. Join women and children from the San Antonio community for this interdenominational Bible study. Enjoy small-group discussions and large-group lectures as you study the Book of Romans with others. You’ll be comfortable and blessed whether a first-time Bible student or a seasoned veteran of God’s exciting, life-changing Word! For additional information call Cathy Johnson at 828-7680. Co-Ed Evening Small Group: Tuesday Evenings, 7:00-8:30. Join men and women from the community for this Evening Satellite CBS Small Group. Come and be part of the Tuesday Evening Small Group studying the Book of Romans. Discuss God’s life-changing Word together and watch a video lecture from the Thursday Day Class. Men’s Walk #76 of our “Walk to Emmaus”

October 7-10 promises to be one of the best ever! All men who have not attended this once-in-lifetime Christian experience are urged to sign up immediately. Leaders are Tem Moody, Lay Director, and Fred Morgan, Spiritual Director. Deepen your faith—help your church—strengthen your family. CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
  • CHAMPPS (Children’s Ministry Prayer Partners) will meet every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Fireside room.
  • CHILDREN’S CHOIR TONIGHT: – Cherub Choir (4 years – 3rd grade) will meet 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., and the Solid Rock Ringers will meet 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.
  • CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COMMITTEE TONIGHT, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in Calvin’s Classroom in the Arnold Building across from the Choir room.
  • CLUB 56 meets Saturday, September 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Arnold Building, room C108.

YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES

  • Senior High Fellowship (Sunday Night Live - SNL) will meet tonight (9/19) at 7:00 p.m. in the Youth Room. Middle School Fellowship will meet on Wednesday, September 22 at 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Senior High Guys Only group begins Monday, September 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Eric’s office. “Locker Room Talk” with Eric. We’ll play X-box, order pizza, and discuss God’s word.
  • Senior High Girls Only group begins Monday, September 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Carrie Summitt’s home. We’ll have a light supper and then a short lesson and discussion.
  • A Confirmation information meeting will be held Wed., September 27, 7:45 to 9:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room for 8th thru 12th graders and their parents who are interested in confirmation.
  • All Youth Retreat will be held at John Knox Ranch October 1-3. Sign-up sheets are available at the Information Center, and the deadline is September 26.
PW BREAD FOR THE SOUL

“BREAD FOR THE SOUL” TO MEET OCTOBER 2 -- Penny Berger, an organizational consultant, will speak on “Getting Organized” at the October 2 “Bread for the Soul,” Presbyterian Women’s Saturday breakfast and fellowship time. Breakfast will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room with the program at 9:30 a.m. Hope you can join us to start off your weekend with an enlightening program and enriching fellowship.

CALLING ALL RINGERS!

The Joyful Noise Ringers need YOU!!!! If you have been considering joining the Handbell Choir, now is the time to try it out. We will be expanding our set of bells from three to four octaves, and will need more ringers to play the new bells. A bell basics workshop will be offered at SPPC in September for those who have no prior experience, or need a refresher course. In addition, a handbell seminar in Plano, Texas, is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, at Custer United Methodist Church. This seminar offers instruction in basic bell ringing techniques, group ringing and sight reading classes, as well as several exhibits featuring handbells from the smallest to the largest! To sign up for the workshop or to attend the seminar in Plano, contact Katarina McAnelly at 494-6560, ext. 7. The SPPC workshop date and time will be arranged to fit the schedules of those who sign up.

BOY SCOUT TROOP 511

Boy Scout troop 511 is sponsored by our church, and meets Monday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. All middle-school boys are invited to visit.
