San Pedro offers a "university" of classes for adult learners. We understand that some of us have been studying Scripture and the life of faith all of our lives. Others are new to the Christian faith. So we continually develop a variety of classes that will connect with you. Some are very basic; some are more advanced. At least one will have just what you need to sharpen your skills or increase your knowledge of Christian faith and life.
Adult Education Classes
San Pedro offers numerous classes or study groups on Sunday and during the week. These groups are in several different concentrations: Bible, theology, the Church, spiritual formation, social justice and ethical issues, life-stage concerns, cultural and artistic connections to faith. Following is a look at the current offerings.Sunday Classes - 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Travel With Paul -- Led by Dr. Reynolds, this class looks at the travels and teachings of Paul
- The Thoughtful Christian Class -- This class features relevant, thought-provoking studies on a variety of topics. Attend every week or when a topic appeals to you.
- Walk Through the Bible Class -- This class currently uses various Ray VanderLaan DVD-based Bible studies. Filmed in Israel, the DVDs and the accompanying lessons help participants gain new insights into Biblical customs and tradition which deepen their understanding of Scripture.
During-the-Week Classes
- BYOB (Bring Your Own Breakfast) -- Men's breakfast and Bible study that meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. This year they are studying the Book of Hebrews.
- Mary/Martha Circle and Bible Study -- This group of women meets the fourth Tuesday of the month for Bible study and fellowship. This year's study features the Book of Joshua.
- Brown Bag Study -- Bring a lunch and join this group of women at noon on Wednesdays in the Fireside Room for a time of prayer and discussion.
- Monday Study Group -- This group meets at 1 p.m. on Mondays in the Fireside Room. A new study is scheduled to begin in September.
- Wednesday Night Dinners -- Come for dinner at 5:45 p.m. and stay for a class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sessions are offered in the fall and spring with different class offerings. The next series will begin in September.
- Film Series and Discussion Group -- Gather on the second Friday of the month to view a film and discuss its Christian message. The group meets at 7 p.m. in the Fireside Room.
