A. General
Overview |
The calendaring system we are
using here allows the visitor to view
four separate color coded calendars
depending on their particular interest. The four
calendars are:
- The Children's Calendar
(Purple) - All events related to our
Children's Ministry Program
- The Youth Calendar (Red)- All events involving our Youth and
Youth Programs
- The Church Calendar (Medium Blue) - All events associated with the Church
other than those on the Children's Calendar or the Youth Calendar
- The Main Calendar (Light Blue)
- A consolidation of all the events from the
above three calendars. This is the calendar where everything
is shown.
The Staff Calendar is for use by the SPPC Staff and requires
a user identification (ID) and password for access.
The final button in this grouping is the "Help" button which
brings you to this screen.
The information on all the calendars is shown in a
grid or
list format for various time periods. You have the option to
see the information by day, week, 2-week, 3-week, 4-week, or monthly
time period and all with a single click. On the monthly
calendar a visitor can move to any month in the year or to the
previous year or to next year again with a single click. The
weekly views are shown in the same fashion and increment by week.
Searching for Events - The
viewer can also search for key words in the calendar title or
descriptions using an intelligent search form and a date range.
Many items are included as recurring events - they occur on a
regular schedule and only need to be entered one time in order to be
shown for a year or more. Our early and late Sunday Worship
Services are examples of a recurring event. Recurring
events will only show up on a search if the beginning time period
you enter is earlier than the date the event was entered.
For example, if you search for "Worship Service", you will only find
it by entering a beginning date of February 1, 2004 or earlier
because these events were entered into the calendar in early
February 2004.

B. Using
the Floating Navigation Menu At The Top Of Screen |
|
The floating navigation menu at the top of the
screen works in exactly the same fashion as it works on all the
other pages of the site. As you move the cursor over an menu
option it changes color and can be selected using the left mouse
button. If the item has a submenu, the submenu will pop up and
you can select one of these submenu items by moving the cursor down
the list to highlight one of the items. Selections are made by highlighting the
selection and using your left mouse button.

|
C. Using the On Screen Selection
Buttons to the Left of the Calendar |
The on screen selection buttons to the left of the
calendar are divided into three sections.
- The top two buttons toggle the view between a
regular
calendar grid format and a standard list format.
- The next six buttons change the calendar time frame and
range from a "Today" view to a
week, 2-week, 3-week, 4-week, or monthly time period.
The remaining five buttons select the specific calendar you wish
to see as described above in section "A". Again, access to
the "Staff" calendar requires a user identification (ID) and
password and it's use is limited strictly to the SPPC Staff.
- The "Search" button will allow you to search for words,
events, etc. on the calendar you are currently viewing. If
you are on the "Youth" calendar the search function searches for
words only on the Youth calendar. If you are on the "Main"
calendar, the search will include all calendars (Children's, Youth
and Church).
- The "Login" button is used by the Staff to access the
various calendars to add, change or delete events.
You will see that the "Title" of events is all that is shown
within the calendar grid or on the calendar list. You will
notice that when you move the cursor over the title you can see
there is a hyperlink which when clicked, will cause a new screen to
Pop-Up which has all the information about this particular event.
The Pop-Up screen lists the Calendar where the event resides, the
Date, Time, Title and a Description of the particular event.
You may print the Pop-Up by simply clicking on the "Print" button on
the left top side of the colored bar on the Pop-Up.
Feel free to browse the calendars and let us know if you have
any questions. You may use the floating menu at the top of
this screen to return to either the Main Calendar, Youth Calendar or
Children's Calendar.
