LADIES' DAY OUT
Ladies’ Day Out—If you enjoy eating out with friends, join the lunch bunch as they travel to Water Street Oyster Bar Restaurant located at the corner of Basse & Broadway in Alamo Heights (7500 Broadway) on May 12 at 11:30 a. m. Meet at the church for carpooling at 11:00 a.m. Sign-up sheets are located in the Narthex.

HOLY SMOKE DINNER
Holy Smoke Dinner—The annual Presbyterian Cluster dinner for the 2009 Habitat for Humanity build will be held on May 4, at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Dinner is from 5:00-6:15 p.m., and the program begins at 6:30 Dinner will be provided by cluster pastors and staff. This year’s entertainment will be music performed by the San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble. Master of ceremonies is Steve Spriester of KSAT-12 news. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and may be purchased from Gene Trevino at 479-7650. All proceeds will benefit the 2009 Presbyterian Cluster Habitat House.

MEXICO MISSION TRIP
The Missions Committee has a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for anyone interested in going on the Faith Mission Trip to Mexico. The group from SPPC will be leaving Sunday afternoon, June 8, and returning Friday, June 13. We also need your financial support for this mission to succeed. Please consider marking “Mexico Mission “ in the memo portion of your offering to SPPC. Look for pictures and videos of previous Mexico Mission trips in the Narthex or the Fireside Room.

USHERS AND LAY LITURGISTS
SPPC is looking for people who would like to help support our Church as Ushers and Lay Liturgists. No experience is required. We'll give you the training you need. As an usher you would be doing about 1 service per month. As a Lay Liturgist it would be about once every two months. We have a need at both the 8:30 and 11:00 services. If you're interested contact Ed Olson, Worship Deacon, 495-7213 or eolson1@satx.rr.com. God rewards us all for the service we provide.

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY/BREAKFAST
The men of the church have resumed their bi-monthly (second and fourth) Saturday morning Bible study and breakfast at 8:00 in the Fireside Room. Fellowship is the order of the early morning hours plus a hearty breakfast prepared by some of the men in the group. After breakfast, the men turn to the Bible where they will study the Book of Romans led by Dr. Reynolds. All men of the church are invited to attend. YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES

Tutoring will be provided for Middle School and High School in separate areas from 6 to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Arnold Building.

Hot Topics for Senior High is now meeting on Tuesday nights at 7:30 in the Youth Room.

All youth are invited to the Band Project every Friday night at 7:00 in the Youth Room.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
Fabulous Friday, May 9. All children are invited 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. for pizza, fun, and preparing our Carnation Celebration for Mother’s Day.

Solid Rock Ringers final rehearsal for the 2007-2008 school year is May 7. Pizza is served at 6:10 p.m. Rehearsal begins at 6:30 p.m. Junior ringers please plan to stay until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7.

VBS is June 16-20 from 1 to 4 p.m. Please call Dawn at 355-9809 or Karen at 275-3983 to volunteer.

Sunday School Graduation ceremonies will be during Sunday School on Sunday, June 1. We will have a picnic and ice cream social immediately following the 11 a.m. service on the deck.

Marble Reward party is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-school through 1st grade will meet at Chuck E. Cheese. Second through fifth grade will meet at Mr. Gatti’s.

SPECIAL SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADULTS
The Younger Folks social group will meet on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Jim and Sonya McDonald, 911 El Paisaje in Stone Oak. Please RSVP to them by April 29 at 497-1926. Child care will be provided at the church from 6:30-10:00 for those attending.

VIP Dinners are normally held at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th Friday of each month. A potluck dinner is served and fellowship and board games follow dinner. Anyone aged 50 or over is invited. New members are always welcome. Interested in meeting new friends or learning to play bridge or other card games? This is the place for you! Please contact Skip Allen (495-2676) or Geoff Morgan (497-3918)if you would like transportation).

The Shearer Hills Baptist Church is offering senior games and craft time from 9 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday. If you are interested in knitting or crochet lessons, please call Sandra Baskin at 496-7899. Anyone interested in coming may bring his/her own board games, card games, or dominoes. This activity is a service to our community, and anyone is welcome to come and enjoy the fellowship.

Bethel Bible classes and other adult classes have resumed on Wednesday evenings at 6:30. The classes will continue through May 7.

The Christian Believer class continues on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

The Brown Bag Bible Study group meets on Wednesdays in the Fireside Room. Ladies, bring your lunch and join others at 12 p.m. The study will be from 1 to 2 p.m. using Charles Swindoll's book, "Getting Through the Tough Stuff."
